FedRAMP 20x is an initiative aimed at modernizing the cloud authorization process for the US Government. It has significantly reduced the time needed to approve cloud services from over a year to approximately five weeks. This transformation is achieved by cutting down on documentation requirements, enabling automation, and streamlining decision-making.
How many cloud services have been approved recently?
In fiscal 2025, the US Government's FedRAMP program has approved 114 cloud computing services, which is more than double the number of services approved the previous year. This increase reflects the effectiveness of the FedRAMP 20x initiative.
What are the benefits of centralized procurement?
Centralizing IT procurement allows the US Government to acquire government-wide contracts instead of individual department contracts. This approach leads to improved purchasing power and significant cost savings, as seen with cloud companies offering substantial discounts, such as AWS providing a $1 billion credit to the government.
